Hello. After you replaced the electrical parts, the tractor only ran for a short time.It this what your saying???.So really the tractor has spark then.It sounds to me like you have a fuel starving problem. What you can do is check to see that your getting a good flow of gas to the carb. Remove the line that goes into the carb and let it run into a suitable contanier and check how it is flowing. If it seems slow , Its possible the fuel filter maybe plugged, the fuel line can be plugged even the fitting that goes into the bottom of the gas tank can be plugged.I'am not sure if yours has a screen that goes into the bottom of the gas tank thats actually inside the fitting that screws into the tank Another thing is that the carb made need to be disassembled and cleaned properly and a carb kit installed as well.Post back what you find.Larry

thanks for the reply Larry, the carb has been rebuilt very recently also, the tractor ran great after i put a new dis. cap and rotor button on it then about a couple days later it wouldnt start. so i shot some starter fluid in it and nothing so i started checking for fire and im only getting a very small spark going into dis. i checked the coil wire with a volt meter and got 6 volts,so is the new coil bad?

Do you have 12 volts going into the coil from the ign. I'am a bit unsure of where you're getting your reading from. Both + & - sides of the coil should read 12 v so long as the points are open.Larry

I re read your post and if you want to check to see if your getting enough spark to fire the plugs is to pull one plug and hook the spark plug wire to the spark plug that you have grd to the block somewhere, then turn the tractor over and watch for spark. If the plug has spark then it should be good to go.unless of course you have moisture built up inside the dist cap.Larry

at moment of death, recheck spark.. if it has spark.. look at fuel.

My money is on fuel. What does the sight glass look like? Have you changed the element?

Yep. May be time to rebuild the carb.

Since your carb has been recently rebuilt it wouldn't hurt to pull it quickly and check for dirt. You sound convinced it's an issue with voltage, I know it may sound dumb but I had a positive battery cable that if you moved the deflection as little as a half an inch voltage would drop significantly, would work for a while and then act like yours is. I found it only after having replaced the same components you did, wrote it off to needing to be done anyway, and I kept the coil as a spare.

Intermittent grounds can cause a lot of grief as well, I got into the habit of going around my 135 twice a year, spring and fall, to clean all the terminals connections, saves me the grief of having to do it in the middle of a snow storm.
