MF 1260 will not turnoff when key is in the off position

The engine will not shut off after the key is switched off and key is removed. I have replaced the switch and still have the same thing. Have to stall the engine (pop the clutch in 4th gear) in order to stop the engine. The key heats the glow plugs and starts the engine fine. Any ideas?

A bad fuel shutoff relay.

Thanks I will take a look for it. I think I found something about it in the owners manual.

Previous comment is correct. On the 1260 the shut off fuel solenoid is in the normally run position. When you turn the key off there is a small capacitor (think miniture battery) that sends voltage to the fuel shut off solenoid for a fuel seconds and shuts the fuel off before the solenoid returns back the the normally run position.

Thanks for the information. I did some digging into the solenoid and found that a rodent built a nest on it and chewed the wires. I was able to resolder the wires back together. The shut off solenoid is working normally now.
