A compression type spring on one side broke. I need more information about it. It keeps tension on the arm below the fingers and moves the twine sideways. It is about an inch long and the end the coil is turned 90 degrees and goes through a hole in the tensioning nut. What would you call it and where do I get one?

I presume you are meaning the spring that returns the tucker finger drive arms back to position. Home Depot, Lowes, Tractor Supply, Ace Hardware, etc, usually has boxes with various spring lengths and tension which do this job. Heck, I even used a rubber tiedown strap temporarily to finish a field.

Go here: AGCO Parts Books

Click on "View Books", to the right of Guest user. On the next page that appears, enter "12" in the search by model block, then select Massey Ferguson in the menu at right, then hit search.

Scroll down to the 4th item in the list, "hay baler", and click on it. On the next page to appear, will be a list of components of your baler. Select knotter (twine) page 45 in the list. An exploded view will appear. Find the spring your are looking for. To the right, will be a description, and part number. Copy, then paste that part number to a search engine. I have the best luck with Google. I did a search for all 3 items that said spring, and got hits on all 3. You'll just have to decide where to shop.
