MF 12 Dies

I just got an old Massey MF12 garden tractor. It starts up everytime, but after a few minutes dies. After it dies I can start it right back up again with no problem.

Any Ideas as to what's going on or how to fix it?

Start narrowing down the possibilities. Is it dying from fuel starvation? Ignition quitting? loosing compression suddenly like a valve sticking? No air getting to engine? (air filter plugged) There must be 10,001 reasons why a small engine would quit. Start eliminating the possibilities and concentrating on the remaining ones.

Iplay, It kinda sounds like to me a fuel related issue, when it runs does it run good? Does it have a fuel filter? If so change it... Also it could have dirt in the needle and seat, or if it has and adjustable float bowl that may be needing tweaked..mixture depending on how it runs before quitting.. Check the plug/s to see if wet or dry...Does it have a fuel pump or gravity feed?
Is it dying under load? Maybe the governor needs adjustment? Like farm said it could be alot of things, Closely heed all the syptoms and start to prove them in a logical manner.... Good Luck! The fact that it does run makes diagnosing all the easier
