Do the French and Italian use the same system? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Not to my understanding, but not dead certain

Junkman,

Also it is not fair really to say that metric bolts have different pitches and use this as a negative argument. Any system must have different pitches and number of threads per length. This is simply a mechanical necessity as you would appreciate, the necessity of a fine threaded set screw on say a precision high speed continually vibrating piece of machinery compared to a bolt on a gazebo.

I have great difficulty getting my head around all the different systems. Here in OZ until we went to metric we had no less than probably 10 systems to deal with now its only about 4 and i would love to see just a metric system with basically coarse, fine and super fine

Uvalde Ace Hardware here in Houston is my go- to place but they are size limited. The store size and metric hardware size. He is high on his metrics. I might check the True Value in Channelview the next time I need metrics.

Vin,
I think you missed the point. The standards all have fine and coarse threads listed. The fine thread pitches aren't the same across the different standards, and neither are the coarse pitches.
