method for straightening minor sheet metal bends

hi folks. I could sure use some guidance - I have a 2 year old john deere tractor 5105, that has a couple of minor sheet metal bends. They reall are minor, with a little "rounding" and no sharp bend edges. The first is the bottom of the wheel well, the corner caught on something and just bent a little - maybe 2 inches inward. I tried to muscle it straight, and almost did, but it lacks an inch or less going back straight. The other part is the step, which gets caught on everything....I need some general advice on flattening/straightening sheet metal bends. thanks.

Look for a flat nose body hammer and a flat dolly to pound against. Depending on the angle of the bend you can sometimes pull it out with a vice grip but make sure you put a rag over the jaws to avoid chewing up the metal.

Any pics? An adjustable wrench (Crescent) slipped over the edge of the step and tightened up usually works for me. Allows a lot more leverage. Hammer and block of wood usually works for some smaller dings, but not sure exactly how yours is damaged.

If you use metal hammer and dolly, be sure not to hit "on dolly". This pinches the sheet metal causing it to stretch. This will cause the metal to act like the bottom of an oilcan. Cushioning with wood is good. Shot filled urethane dead blow hammers are too.
