Good pictures. How far away were you when you made them?
I'd guess 80-90 yards. I was using my new Canon 7D camera and had the tripod with me.
Great pics!!!
Any guess on what they weighed? I've seen some pretty big boars in Alaska, and qutie a few medium sized ones in the Sierra Nevada's. Especially in Yosemite, where they are all over the place.
Eddie
Hi Eddie, I'd guess Momma was 300 lbs, and the kids maybe 125 lbs each. They're year-old cubs.
Do you have fruit trees or bird feeders?![]()
Egon, yes to the bird feeders, no to the fruit trees. These are definitely the ones that were in my driveway last Saturday night, but this field was across the road from my place, which is where they seem to like to graze on the new grass and clover. However, my river fills up with the annual gaspereau run starting in June for a month or so, and that REALLY brings them down to the river. The gaspereau are so think they are crowding each other out of the river, often flopping onto the shore. For those that haven't heard of them, they're kind of like a herring and there's an annual run of them. They're around a foot long, very many small bones, and the locals hardly ever, if ever, eat them. As a kid I'd catch 5 or at a time in a butterfly net and try to get my aunt to cook them up for me. I think she did once, jsut to humour me. Anyway, I'm way off-topic here, but just to say the bears will be around even more when the gaspereau start running.
