Well I took a old drive out because it was all silt and limestone, took 6in out and put geotextial fab down. Then brought In 4 in of 57 (1-1/2. -- 1/2) limestone in and back bladed it. Well I need 4x4 to get In and out.
I need another 22ton load and don't know if it should be 57's then roll it or remove some of the new stone hope to not tear up the mat and put 304 down and pack? Found the site a little late I guess. Thanks

Drive is 24 x 120 and solid under the mat

Welcome to TBN. Hartville? I grew up east of Canton. I have been to Hartville many times.

I put 57 gravel down as a base and then covered it with crushed limestone. I don't know that I would scrape it back up. I would think it will work into the limestone. But others more knowledgeable will be sure to let you know.

Here is my :2cents: Take it for what it's worth.
Your drive should be built up a little higher than the surrounding ground. Finish filling it with 3/4" down, including fines. After spreading, wet it down and roll it. in this part of the world there is also what is called ABC, when wet down and compacted it is almost as hard as concrete. After doing a drive, I like to finish it off with course white sand, sure makes it look neat. A slight crown or slight slope to the low side well let almost all water drain off.

Some food for thought. Have Fun :)

Yeah, you move just about as far as you could huh?

Thank you, I have French/weeping drainage along the whole length of the drive and is boarder by railroad ties if that matters. My last load is on back back order. They good stuff, the mine cant keep it instock so get it as it come out of the crusher.

What does the drive look like once crush run is applied? The fines wash down?
I just picture it as white dirt with gravel mixed in. But after some reading I'm thinking it washes down and forms the base... Thanks again. Never heard of adding sand, a AZ thing?

Ps I want it to look as good as possible aswell

Everyone has their own way of doing this.

Not sure why you started with 57's?

You would have been better off starting with the 304, in 2 inch layers, wet it, and compact it, repeat. Then, finish it with a thin layer of 57's on top.

If you don't get sand /dust mix into all the voids between those 57's, those areas will be filled with water during the wet season. That can cause low spots to get very soft under the fabric, and the drive to sink there, from the weight of the traffic.

If you have them bring you some stone dust, you can probably work it into the 57 stone some, and then you will just have to wait for nature to wash it down into the voids.

If you get enough rain, you should be good by next year. Then, add some 304 in the low spots, and cap it with a layer of 57's.

Ok will do. I will have 304 brought I instead.

The 57 were kind of a suggestion from a friend and the mat was to. Was told with the hard base it eliminates the need for the 1s and 2s.. And I'm getting the grey limestone not soft white, hints waiting and it's coming from 55min away. But he said 57s and roll it.

But I always deal with local crush concert and thought that was 304 and was just informed that I was way wrong. I just knew I didn't want that on the drive as it's all powder with some rock chunks. But 304 is much cleaner per say.

I would not necessarily use 304 now, you just want the sand and dust.

304 also has lots of big stones in it. And, unless you put down a lot of it, there is no where for them to go with the 57's under them.

A lot of guys like to use 3's or 4's as a base, I have found it is hard to get the dust from the 304's under them, and my driveways work just fine without it, as long as you use the fabric.

Just when you think you researched something... So is there a name for the dust? The 304 says 1-1/2 and down and that about what the 57s 1-1/2 to 1/2.? Thanks again

crush & run as you stated above is a mixture of natural small rock & stone that is crushed down to less than 3/4" normally it is a river rock here in Ohio and mostly sand stone with small amounts of quarts, sand & Granite mixed in. The high fines made with limestone that has been pulverized to 1/2"- to power is good for topping to compact & create a very good top coat that holds shape.

should have went with the larger stone base with some of the 57's on top with a follow up of the high fines 1/2"-. I get the run out of my creek but it is not crushed and has some larger chunks that are a bit of a pain but it is free other than my time. the spring stormed washed probably 100 ~120 ton of it into my grass pick nick area by the intermittent brook/run that goes thru my place.
how much did the fabric cost you? & where did ya get it? I'm thinking of putting a layer down then bringing in some asphalt re-grind on top of my 300+ foot drive.

thanks
