Most tractor wheels are designed to be mounted either way - to change the track width. The only issue you need to look at, is if the new wheel lug hole has a taper to center a tapered wheel nut. If so, be sure the taper is on both sides.

This tractor set-up I have is for mowing and has the fatter lower stance. I have replaced front tires on new rims same as existing when purchased. These tire sizes are 7.5-15 as opposed to the 7.5-16 that is published shown in TractorData. The stock rears are listed as 14.9-28 on TractorData and I was planning to match this with JD rims to fit out.

Question is the stance that the tractor may have after changing to ags. Seems it may be a little tall in the rear and I wonder how it will affect tractor performance or characteristics. Really don't know about this but does it matter ? 2WD so fronts are not pulling.

A half inch shorter in front should not show much. If is does sit much higher in the back, it'll still function okay but the 3pt may not lower enough, plus - it will look "goofy" IMHO. I've seen several that did that and I don't like it. I think they should be level...

Firstly, I have forgotten my forum handle and password so when I got back up to speed, it seems I have a new forum handle. Old one was burr or something close to that.

I have finally found and purchased a tractor that fits my needs. I have been hunting (mainly thru TractorHouse) since before the virus and price increases and inventory shortages, and wondered if I ever would be able to afford a good useful worker tractor for my 11 acre wooded lot. I have been renting equipment to get me thru these times and I do not like renting. This is my third tractor and the second should have filled the needs (for good) for property maintenance ect but it was stolen.

I am a member here for a good while, mostly reading and learning than posting. This site is highly valuable to a starter or less experienced user. It seems a little more regional than my area but there are some deep south contributors with very similar situations also. And I appreciate it all. (for instance, I cannot imagine using a tractor to push snow!)

My purchase is a 2002 JD 5105 with FEL. and when I figure out attaching a photo, I'll post. A just about perfect fit for the needs of driveway, small food plots, collecting dead or downed trees and general clean-up that has been too much for a now 67yo to manage by hand. I'm tickled.

I plan to feed questions about this unit here in the very near future and thanks ...
Congratulations. Looks like a capable unit.

I'm guessing he is using his eyes to read the number that correspond to the tractors capabilities, and then is using his brain to interpret those numbers into real-world usefulness.

It's pretty damn intense, I know.

Can you narrow the rear by changing the wheel offset arrangement? Can't tell by the picture, there may not be room.

I don't think so BigGG, these are rims for this type turftire,
very deepset.
My intent is converting to ag style rears, more clearance and a smaller more conventional stance.

I have ordered two piece Ag rim/wheel for the rears and are bolted together with carriage bolts. What grade hardware is this type application ? Off the shelf at the hardware store ?
