NO, this is NOT my mother in law! :laughing:
This is the real deal. It was UGLY, easily 5” long, had huge jaws and it was ANGRY! :shocked:

So, what is it???

I can find Hellgrammite larva in our local streams. Good bait for fishing. I certainly don't think ours turn into something THAT big.

Come to think about it - I bet that's what is in my BIG lake. My fence line runs across the big lake. It's a REAL PITA - a totally different story.

I venture out in my "BIG LK sneakers". The big lake has three feet of goose poop on the bottom. My sneakers spend their off hours out in my tool shed. My wife threatened - "instant death" - if I EVER washed the sneakers in our wash machine again. Several times I've had a rather large aquatic bug appear to attack my bare leg. It's got a pair of front mounted pinchers that look like a set of ice tongs. It's so fierce looking - first contact I pulled the Jesus act. Now I wear heavy duty Carhart and hope for the best.
