Farmall Cub, Case international 2300
Hi everyone, i have a 1945 Mccormack Farmall cub that will not go. I know the transmission is fine because I took off the shift lever housing and can see the gears being engaged fine. Also the rear PTO will run fine. The problem is that it will not go into any of the 4 gears(1,2,3,R). Also i checked to see if the problem was in the gear case next to the tires but it was not. There is also no grinding when I put it into gear but it will roll when in gear and I didn't hear anything break when it happened. If anyone has any idea on what the problem could possibly be let me know. Thanks.

It's more than likely, you broke a differential shaft, or an axle. It is easy to determine if broken. Step on one brake, or the other, when trying to move the tractor, preferably at lower rpms., and in first gear. If it moves, the side the brake is applied on, is the side the axle/differential shaft is broken on.

I have to ask, what you were doing when this happened. If it was spinning, and suddenly gained traction, it is possible I suppose to cause one or the other to break. But, being they only had 9 hp. from the factory, on a good day, I would think it would take repeated shocks to the drive system to cause this. Just my opinion...
