Maxxis Bighorn Radials on Chrome ITP\'s

Here are the new Maxxis Bighorn Radials on the chrome ITP wheels I bought for my RTV. I'm very pleased with their performance. They do not ride any different on concrete than the factory tires, yet I can climb a hill in 2 wheel drive that I had to take a run at in 4 wheel drive before. Also, we had 4" of rain last night!! So, not only will it climb as much in 2 wheel drive as it did in 4 wheel drive before, but it did it in very wet conditions. I didn't get my chrome lug nuts in yet. They will come in a different shipment, but I couldn't wait to put these on and try them out. Heck, I just ordered them Tuesday afternoon at ATV Outfitters and they were here on Thursday!

I thought I'd also mention that even after all that rain last night, the tires are not marking up my yard. What a deal! So far, my initial impression of these tires is great.

Mind if I ask what the wheels/tires cost? Really sharpens up the RTV...good job.

Dargo,

Looks identical to mine.
I mounted mine today also (will take a picture tomorrow).
I concur with your assessment about traction, driving on pavement and not tearing up the grass.
How much pressure are you running? I didn't see it posted on the tire. I put 12 psi in front, 14 in the rear.

Nice looking place you have there, or did you park in the neighbors driveway? /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Re: Maxxis Bighorn Radials on Chrome ITP\'s

Bczoom, my tires came with 12 psi in each. I read on the sidewall that it said 36 psi max. They seemed to sag just a little at 12, so I put 20 in each. I really don't think I need 20 psi in them though. They do not sag at all there. I suppose we need to experiment with them to see what works best. I'm going to drop them down to 15 tomorrow. Do you like yours too? I worried myself silly trying to find a tire with a good compromise between traction and not being too aggressive. These seem to be great. If I had to make any complaint, I'd wish they were just a little wider. Oh well, I won't complain.

Oh, the picture was taken at my wife's house. She just lets me live there if I pay the bills, do the yard work and be the pool boy. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif He, he, he. I can get by with that because she doesn't read this site! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Re: Maxxis Bighorn Radials on Chrome ITP\'s

Dargo,
Mine came with between 7 and 11 psi, and yes, all were sagging.
We'd better read the side again. As I read it, that 36 psi was the max pressure for seating the tire to the rim. I thought I heard/read that 12 psi was about right. I put 14 in the back to keep 'er up a little under loads. I may back that down a little. I noticed going down the road that it put a bit more bounce in the ride like I was running on old shocks. A little wider would be nice for the lawn but I've found the narrower tires cut through snow better. Who knows in the mud.

Ahhh, I see we both live in the same type of residence. (bills, chores, yard work... /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif )

everyone having traction problems has had the work site tires correct? What about the general purpose or ATV tires?
