Hey folks,
What would the max climb angle be? I have 2015 4 wheel drive HST. In forward or reverse, if not the same.
Reason I ask is I was mowing on a slope and the machine did not want to go any more. I am mowing so as not to side angle and tip or roll. Backing to the top and lowering brush cutter and then mow down hill. I am in low. I did try taking PTO turned off but same results. Motor did not sound like it was bogging. oil level looked to be correct level. I did not try going forward to see if I could go farther, yet. i was thinking the suction tube is at back of the resivor and starting to suck air? Yeah, I know flat ground safety yada yada yada but it is not flat, yet!

When mowing on a slope definetly go straight up and down. Its too easy to tip mowing across the slope. After a while you get that feeling that makes your butt pucker and you know you shouldn't be at that angle. I've mowed straight up and down on about a 30 deg. slope and always in 4 wheel drive. A lot depends on your slope whether its smooth or has bumps and dips in it. I go by how it feels and if too steep the wheels will start to slide. In a couple areas I had to back up the slope as far as I could go then go up top and back down as far as I could go then trimmed the rest with a weedeater.

If you'll need to frequent this slope, you may want to make sure you tires are moved out to their widest settings.

After having a roll-over accident while mowing a slope, ask yourself: Did that really have to be mowed?

How did the world ever survive without mowers?

Achingback has a good point. If are you in high range you should be in low range, also the hydrostatic will give you more force going forward than it will going backwards as the reverse relief valve is set lower than the forward relief. I know what you are realizing is the reverse relief valve is unloading and the tractor will not move backwards anymore. That is all you are going to get unless you are trying it in high range, the low range will do better. Good luck with it!

Thanks guys.
Yes, I was in low range. And now that you mention it it does feel like a releif valve is popping off, not like when going forward and digging or dragging when you can make the motor bog or work down. When it stops and let off and reapply pedal pressure, it feels like it is bybassing oil and motor hardly changes tone. I kind of feel this may be adjusted a little whimpish in reverse as the tires do not even want to slide. All that I am missing is a foot or two at the top and can cut those with a lop. Weed eater is out of it's league with sage brush. Sorry to hear about the roll over incident, sounds like no fun.
At the risk of starting the flaming... How can this be adjusted a bit?

It is meant not to be adjusted. I have never done it, but I do know if it can be the tractor would have to be split to get to the reverse relief valve.

Thanks Galen for the answer to that one. After additional thought I can go forward and drag the front bucket for brush missed. No biggy! All in all I am really happy with the Mahindra and feel it was a very good choice. And thanks to all the great folks on this site.
Does the HST noise get less noisy? Sort of a whyny noise and dealer said that is because it's new.

I'm sure your already aware if you keep your rpm's 1500 or higher, the whining is reduced. That is kind of the nature of the beast, the updated 2415, 2815, and 3215 tractors have quieter and smoother transmissions. That is not to put down the transmission in the 2015/2615, as they have been bullet proof.

I don't want to hijack the thread, but, I do have a quick question. Isn't a 3215 a 2615 engine with a turbo? That was my understanding.
