hello everyone I thought I would share my experience as I've gotten alot of useful information reading these forums. My max 28 with about 100 hours in it would crank and fire up momentarily only to shut off directly after. It would do this a few times and eventually start and run fine. I run on road diesel since I have a fill up station so close so I did not feel it was a fuel issue. I called my dealer and he sent a guy the next day. Naturally while the mechanic was there it fired right up and never happened. I had asked about the fuel shutoff solenoid which has given a few other members here some grief. He changed the solenoid and showed me inside the connector where a prong was already black from arcing. He said that they believe that waterproof connector is not waterproof after all and those contacts eventually corroded/began to arc. Upon reinstalling a new solenoid and cleaning up the connector he applied a healthy dose of dielectric grease in and around the connector. I was happy he didn't hesitate to change the part and continue to have an excellent relationship with my dealer here in central pa. Hope this may help someone out there thanks.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I own the same size tractor and will keep that in mind if the same issue arises. So many people look for information when there is an issue and hopefully your post will help them. Welcome to the forum!

Fuel solenoid is located just above oil filter on injection pump.

Thank you

I have some Dow Corning #5 Silicone Lube to cover the connectors.

It is just above the oil filter as previously stated and just below the overflow tank for your engine coolant. I will try to remember a picture one of these evenings.
