Thought I would post a couple pics I took last year traveling in Iraq. Also noticed what appears to be a Massey in Grrr's Avatar. Massey Ferguson has done a good job of marketing worldwide for quite a while now. Every tractor I saw in Iraq and Afghanistan were Massey's. Hmmmmmm,,,, how'd they do that when we have had trade embargos for the last fifteen years???

Massey has several plants around the world. Most of MFs tractors % wise are made in France and Brazil at this time and I am sure they don't have the same embargoes as we do in the U.S..
I think that they do the worst marketing in the United States. Even the Chinese tractors are marketed better here.

I didn't know that!!! I guess when I think back as a kid Massey tractors used Perkins diesels so they've maybe been worldwide produced for a long time?? I'm refering to tractors I was around in the sixties.

During that time, they were produced mostly in the US, Canada and the UK. The 135s and other 100 series Ag tractors were largely produced in the UK. Massey actually owned Perkins from 1959 until 1998.

That third picture looks like the tractor is pulling a tank,it looks like a hoineywagon. I noticed that the tractors here that mow the sides of the road are mostly M/F, I wonder why? plowking

I took that picture just outside Kwost, Afghanistan. The trailer is a water tank. They always have those colorfully painted. Another interesting twist, all the tractors I saw had vertical exhaust systems. They almost always had a car or truck rearview mirror fastened to the exhaust pipe for road travel.

The Perkins thing goes back to Conrad Black. If it wasn't for him, Massey Ferguson would still be an independent company. He is in trouble in the UK now yet again. If there is any justice he will be put in jail for a long time. Look him up on the net to find out what all he has pulled.

Oh please, I hope they toss in some rat infested cell, and throw away the key. I really don't know where to start with that meathead. Alot of Canadian Pride was hurt when he nearly bankrupt MF. Thank God our government came to the rescue with a bail out, and even though some people are not AGCO fans, I am glad it is locally ( USA ) owned, and is making a strong comeback. Gotta love the fact that through all the troubles, they still maintained top sales in certain tractor categories.

Sorry for the rant, but I as well as many other cannot stand that man. On a good note, he went to court to have his Canadian Citizenship reinstated, and he was turned down!! Whooo Hooo!!

Will
