Massey hydraulic filter.

A friend has a Massey 245 and wants to know:

1. Does this tractor have a hydraulic filter if so where is it located.
2. How do you change the filter?

I told him that this site would have someone who would know the answers to his questions.

The filter is inside the transmission, on the right side behind the side cover (the best that I can remember). It is a wire mesh filter, that hardly ever needs attention.

It has a metal strainer attached to the 3pt hitch lift pump. There should be a triangular shaped cover underneath the differential housing. Three bolts secure this. If this cover is not there you will have to remove the left side cover where the pto lever is located. The trans/hydraulic fluid will need to be drained to service the strainer. The fluid capacity is 8 gal. If it has factory installed auxillary hydraulics there will also be a filter to the left of the seat that can be serviced.
