Massey Ferguson info

I'm trying to help a mechanically challenged neighbor with his old Massey Ferguson, and need the data for it. It is a MF 135, 3 cylinder Perkins Serial Number 9A45442.

I know at minimum that I'll need to replace the water pump, and who knows what else. Can someone at least get me started locating parts with the year of the tractor? Any other spec's would also be most appreciated.

The TractorData.com site only goes up to 1975.

There is a lot of data on the MF135 online. Do a search on this site, yesterday's tractor etc. You will easily find what you need online or through your local Massey dealer. I have no trouble getting about any part for my old Ferguson TO20 and that 135 is newer and one of the most popular models Massey built.

With the model and serial number you will find anything you need.

Very true about parts availability. I have a lot of respect for trusty old Massey's - fine workhorses for sure. My dilemma however is that I have not found anything online listing model numbers past 1975. The neighbor that I'm trying to help 'thinks' its a 1974... or a 1979... hmm - not exactly sure Nor am I.

Yes, I see what you were asking. I looked for a bit and found this reference that would seem to indicate the 135 in question is a 1975 based on your (tractor not engine) serial number. This states the 135 had an 11 year production run with 1975 being the last year.

Do you have a local Massey dealer? If so, take the number to them and I would think it would get sorted out and confirmed pretty quick.

Most important problem is the water pump is leaking. Then there are a number of steering linkages that are sloppy and need to be replaced. The tractor is a very good ole' horse. I'm not wanting to do a total restoration, but only to make it mechanically solid. No major repairs that I can see are needed.

OK. Glad to hear that 135 is in good shape.

Massey Ferguson is part of the agricultural equipment giant AGCO. You can get parts for that 135 from them

I replaced the water pump seal on my 1964 MF135 diesel a few years ago. Not difficult.

You don't need to find data beyond 1975. 7 digit serials like yours ended sometime in 1970. Your neighbor's machine is a 1968.

There was another message above describing the transmission pre-1973 was a 3/6, so the BS the owner got about it being a 1974 was exactly that. Now, on with the fixing up
