I changed the hydraulic fluid on my GC2300 last night. It all went pretty well until I got to the suction screen. I removed it and was surprised that there were metal shavings on it, but I guess it did its job and filtered the metal. I used a magnet and a rag to remove the remaining metal from the case threads. After cleaning the suction screen I attempted to reinstall. That's where the trouble started. I could only thread the suction screen in about half way before meeting resistance. It threaded on very easily until I met this sticking points. I threaded on and backed off several times in an attempt to clear any metal that may have been causing interference in the threads. Each time I removed the screen I noticed that the first couple of threads on the suction screen started to show some damage to them. Anyway after threading in and out many times I was able to get it tightened down all the way. I think next time I will replace the suction screen with a new part and try to chase the case threads before reassembly. Thoughts?
