Massey Ferguson 65 gas, starting issue

/ Massey Ferguson 65 gas, starting issue #11
Tractor will run all day but when it gets hot and you shut off at key, it won't restart until it cools down. The tractor seems to what to start but doesn't, just pops like it is going to start then it dies. Thinking it is a fuel issue. I know it is getting fuel in carburetor. Any ideas please?
"Any ideas please?"
To be brutally honest,I have an idea you should turn it over to a pro or an experienced friend. Apparently you weren't cut out for troubleshooting.

You were given "ideas" over a week ago expecting you to try them then report results. Instead you just came back and repeated what you said in your first post. 🥱😴🥴

Thanks I figured it out, it was ignition switch.

"I" figured it out, no help from you.

You were given help - you were told how to diagnose if it was a fuel issue (which you continued to insist on up to yesterday despite apparently having a tractor willing to run all day - which is a great indication of not-a-fuel-issue) and otherwise to check the electrical.

Did you check the electrical as told?

Well, apparently you did, though you're petulantly saying "no help from you". They told you to check the electrical a week ago... and the ignition switch is definitely part of the electrical.

To be honest, though, how did the engine crank with a bad ignition switch?

Your travels may not be over.

If it runs all day, it's got enough fuel flow. And the ignition system is probably ok.

The tractor seems to what to start but doesn't, just pops like it is going to start then it dies.
That sounds like it's too rich for a hot start. Don't use the choke and open the throttle some to lean it out.

I found i can jiggle the key in the ignition switch and the engine dies and starts up. There is a short in the switch.

Congratulations. It did sound like ignition more than carburetion. But I have to say that the ignition switch would not be the first place I'd look for a hot start problem. Did any of the information help?

On my old gas engines I'm finding that the old carbon core spark suppression wires to the plugs and distributor are failing now. Much better to replace them with copper core spark plug and dist. leads.
