massey ferguson 65 diesel matic wont shut off

I have a massey ferguson 65 diesel matic that wont shut off with the pull knob after it has been running and warmed up, I have to pull the knob and apply the brakes to kill it. Any thoughts would be appreciated. The tractor will shut off with the knob if it hasn't warmed up.

The good news: It seems, that the brakes are working.
I'm unfamiliar, however, I'd guess the linkage is worn and not shutting the valve or a seal inside has deteriorated and is leaking.

Sounds like a cable adjustment is in order. Adjusts at the injector pump.

I've got two tractors with cable shutoffs. I adjust the cable to minimize the distance pulled to run/shutoff the fuel flow.

Just asking....mybe the thermostart(glowplug) is leaking deu to an faulty ign switch ?
Or selffueling with an overfilled airfilter ?

Whats the LEVER doing AT the injection pump?? is it traveling all the way to the stop? simple check..
IF IT IS.. the metering valve inside the pump is worn.. which means its time for an o/h..
& if the mv is worn, that means dirt has gotten very far INTO the pump & has worn out other components as well..

That's very true about the brakes! I'll take a look at the linkage and see what's going on. Had to much going on today to look at it. I had to change a radiator amongst other things. I will check that out and check out the linkage tomorrow and see what's going on. Thanks for the info.
