mf 50 diesel
Hi, I'm new to owning a tractor and new to TBN. Anyways I just bought a 1962 Massey ferguson 50 diesel. It runs great and looks OK. I paid 3000, does that seem like a good price? It does have a fairly new injection pump and the the rear tires are in very good shape, it does need one front tire. And some of the gauges don't work. But other then that it seems pretty solid.

I was also woundering what size/brand brush hog you guys would recommend for it.
Also If anyone has any spec for this tractor I would appreciat it.

I will post some pictures if anyone is interested.

Thanks,

I spent a LOT of hours on a Ferguson F40, then a Massey Ferguson 50, which are essentially the same tractor. My dad owned the F40 and his brother owned the 50. They farmed together. I've still got both tractors under tarps and awaiting their turn at restoration. Really good old tractors. Both of those two are gassers.

The MF50 is powered by a 153 cu in Perkins 3-cylinder engine. They tested at 37.8 hp. Very easy on fuel, and very reliable.....

I've seen a few rough 50's sell for less than that, even an occasional decent one. But for the most part, a good one will bring $3500 to $4000 here at the right time of the year. (Spring and summer)

We used a 6' medium duty cutter on dads 40 and Uncle Jimmy's 50. It was a handfull in heavy weeds.

Myself? I prefer Bush Hog brand cutters.
