Massey Ferguson 30B Starter

So I have a mid 70s Massey 30B and after replacing the alternator because of a bad diode, I now realized that the starter solenoid is also bad. Has anyone been able to just replace the solenoid vs the entire starter? NAPA is the only place I致e found the starter with the solenoid, but they State I must purchase the entire setup and not just the solenoid. Anyone else ever run into this issue?

I don't know Massey at all. You should be able to mount a standard automotive solenoid (like the older Fords) in the engine compartment and go from there to the starter. This is assuming the starter itself is good and the solenoid is indeed defective.

The type of starter the owner has actually pulls the bendix gear into engagement with the flywheel.

The Ford style of remote starter would just spin the old starter motor but not engage its drive.

Many communities have starter and generator repair shops which could repair or replace the old solenoid.

Many of these starters are common across a number of brands of tractors.
