Massey Ferguson 1533 engine surging

Bought new 2005 in April '06. Been perfect since w/850 hours until yesterday. Hauling mulch and on 3rd load the engine started to die. Kicked in clutch and rpms surged and then died. I've checked the fuel filter, removed, cleaned canister and replaced. I'm a fairly good gas mechanic but no experience w/diesels. Will appreciate any thoughts, ideas, etc.

Got it! A short, quick blast of air into the fuel line from the tank to filter did the trick. Decided to not remove the tank as it is a lot of trouble. Know what to do if it happens again.

Excellent! Would a new filter now be in order and any more gunk visible in tank?

Siphon the junk out. There is a little spill cup around the filler on these fuel tanks and they are notorious for catching water and the water seeping through the cap. Do yourself a favor and cut that booger off. Dirt dobbers and debris always plug up the little hose and doesn't allow the cup to drain properly.

i have a 2006 1533 that did that where they drilled the tank for fuel line they lft peices of plastic in the tank drained tank and vacumed out the tank mostly around fuel line problem solved
