Hi Everyone, I have a Massey Ferguson 135. We are getting voltage to both sides of the coil plus points. The coil was taken to the dealership and tested as being good. We are not getting anything out of the top of the coil. Condenser has been replaced, points checked again and gaped. Insulator was checked as well. We are stumped! Any help would be much appreciated!

Not trying to be a smart ***** but not knowing your level of expertise I'll ask this question. You do realize that the only time a spark is produce is each time the voltage is removed from the coil? Thats what the points do, make and break the primary circuit. The high voltage is caused by the collapsing field in the coil windings.
Welcome BTW :)..............Mike

Thank You Mike! You are right my expertise is limited to a basic knowledge. My mechanic is the one doing the work and I relayed exactly what he told me. I am fairly sure he knows that, but I will double check.

Not sure on this particular coil, does it have the screw in keeper on the high tension wire? If it does, I have repaired a couple of these that don't push the wire down far enough to make contact, check your if it is this type.

Is this the Perkins gas or the Continental gas engine??? By the way, have your guy change out the wire running from the coil to the distributor....and/or a new distributor cap.....BobG in VA

Hi Bob G, this is the Continental gas engine. Okay on the wire and cap, I will have him try that.

Using an ignition tester we had a weak spark coming out of the top of the coil. Very weak spark, no enough to fire the plugs, going to try and replace the points and condenser again. Out of ideas after that.

Dealer tested as good, what ign tester did you use/how?
You have already replaced condenser.
Does your tractor use a ballast resistor?
