I have a Massey Ferguson 1010, 2wd, straight shift model. It is my first tractor, as well as the first diesel engine I have ever owned. I typically service my vehicles, and mowers myself, and I have every intention of servicing this tractor myself. I guess I want to start simple. What type and weight of oil should I be using for my tractor? I live in Alabama, and it gets pretty hot here. In the summer time, I probably average 3 hours a week on it. I have never owned anything with a Hydraulic pump and I know that it has to be serviced, but I don't know exactly how. What type and weight of oil should I use in the hydraulics? Is there anything other than changing the fluid and the filter that I should do to the hydraulics? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
