Tractor
Case 2090 Massey Ferguson 4233 John Deere 4700
I have never owned or even driven a Massey in my life so I know nothing about them. I farm and my son and I have a food plot business. I stumbled on to a 4233 with a cab on it tonight and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little about them. I looked on tractor data.com and saw that it is a 75 HP tractor. I am curious what one with 1600 hrs. would be worth. It looks to be in great shape. Were these good tractors or is this a model that had a lot of trouble. Is there another model simular to 4233 that I might also want to look at? All help is appreciated.

I think this tractor is a 65hp? I didn't see the year but a 2001 cost go for about $15,000 to $18,000. check when its last service was and was it my a dealer ????

Is the tractor 2 or 4 wheel drive?

Those were pretty basic cab tractors. Not a whole bunch of electronic stuff to go wrong.
1600 hours isn't much, what kind of shape is it in?

The 4200 series are an evolution of the MF165 gearbox and rear end. They have been around a long time and are well respected as a chore tractor. The 4300 is also based on the same castings with a few more refinements.

The 5400 series that replaced the 4300 is a whole different design that came from the 6200 series, that came from the 3000 series.

A cab+2wd sells for about 18k, cab+4wd+loader is still up around 30k.

It is a 2wd. It is in real good shape. The cab was real clean no tears or rips in the interior, tire were probably 80% rear and 90% front. No signs of oil leaks anywhere, the motor ran good. The only down fall I saw was part of the hood looked a little faded not bad and the was a small dent in the side panel. I think I could pop it back out real easy. I am not to sure the faded area might buff out.

Then as said, about $18k would be a decent price. It sounds to be in good shape.

Faded paint is normal for those kept outside. The pigment that used to keep red paint really red is toxic and was banned oh 15 years ago or so.
