Massey 35 Turf,, Live pto question

I have been using and repairing this Massey 35 Turf for the last few months. The PTO lever has the 3 positions, Ground, Neutral, and Engine. The pto stops when pushing in the clutch as well as the hydraulics loose pressure. I opened up the lower inspection plate under the clutch and it has what appears to be a single stage clutch. This is a mystery to me. Could someone at some point put the wrong clutch in it? Or wrong transmission? Could I remove the PTO shifter plate and peak inside and get any answers? Thanks so much. I have been working on equipment most of my life and with manuals I can usually figure things out, but this one has me scratching my head...

here are a couple photos from the shifter plate area., Sorry I failed at uploading the pics...Well after a bit of searching I discovered that my serial number starts with UGF which means Utility Gas Single stage clutch.....sigh....the PTO cover must have been changed at some point with what ever the mechanic could find.....
