Massey 245 good deal?

Unless it sold Saturday afternoon I have the opportunity to buy a Massey 245 diesel with factory ROPS and a Bush Hog brand loader for $6100. It's a 1981 model and has 1600 hours on the meter. Everything seems to work OK. The loader runs off the remotes rather than it's own plumbing and I don't know enough about hydros to know if that's unusual or problematic in any way.

Based on what I've seen on other sites that sounds like a reasonable price and I'm thinking hard about calling tomorrow and committing to buy it. Any thoughts?

We have a MF375 with MFWD bought new by my father in law in 1986 with factory FEL and that is just how they made them back then. When we use a log splitter, we just unhook the FEL lines and plug in the splitter.

We have used ours very hard and the electrics went out years ago so I don't know how many hours it has, but it is a lot. My brother is in the process of rewiring it now.

Ours is a 12F/3R with the Perkins engine and mechanically it is sound, doesn't burn any oil, very tough old tractor.

I honestly don't know if it is worth it, Soundguy or FarmWithJunk can tell you, but in my experience they are pretty good old tractors.

We have had a lot of trouble with the the 3PH as well as electrics, so you might want to check that out.

Again, if FWJ doesn't show up, check with him as he knows a lot about these old tractors as does Soundguy.

The loader can be plumbed up without using the remotes....

245's are good solid tractors. Several friends with them who have nothing but good things to say about 'em. Bush Hog made a good loader for that size tractors. Low hours if correct. Not a bad price...not an extreme bargain either. We'll just call it a "fair price"

We'll know soon enough if it's worth it because I called the guy and told him I would take it. It's hopefully going to be delivered before the weekend.

Guess I know what I'm going to be doing on Saturday!
