Spreader Manure Spreader Suggestions?

does anyone have experience with the older IH 530 spreaders? they are pto driven and seem to be very well built. i found one locally i am thiniking of purchasing.. it's a 1972 model that appears to be in good working order from the original owners..

they sold it today, had planned to go down on sunday to get it but it's too late. was it by chance a tbn'er that picked it up?

How long ago did you buy the MS1108G?

I bought the Frontier MS1105G manure spreader two years ago (May, 2006) at the same time I bought my JD3320 w/ FEL.

I took the price right off the bill of sale.

We compost our manure. We bed the horses in shavings adn try to be conservative when picking the stalls - so as to conserve dry shavings (and save the money) and to reduce the portion of shavings as much as possible.

My composting isn't too fancy. A running manure pile (add to the left, remove from the right). Some day I'd like to build three composting bins, but hasn't happened so far.

here's a picture of the bins i built, they are 8x8x5.. i turn the piles at least once a week and started putting pipes with holes deep into the pile to keep the oxygen flowing (key to continue the composting). i use tarps to keep them covered in the winter and it's worked ok, i'm working on a better design for that though. it takes about 2 months to fill one up with 4 horses.. we use wood pellets for bedding which seems easier to deal with then the shavings, easier to seperate anyway..
