The PIN # does not contain a date code. Typically though, If the serial number is between 100,000 and 199,999 it is a first year machine. between 200,000 and 299,999 is second year etc. Your dealer can give you a manufacture date if he checks it in Deere's system. If you post the serial number, or PM me, I can check it for you.

I remember seeing a manufacture date on some label on mine. I will try to take a picture this weekend. I bought mine in December 2005 and it was made quite a bit earlier. Not a real problem since I have no plans to sell for a couple of decades.
I highly recommend the skid plate. Any JD dealer should be able to get one for you. I doubt you would be able to find a used one.

Thanks guys. My jd dealer gave me the made on date for the 110. However, he tells me Deere doesn't offer a skid plate. I have been checking on line for an after market plate. Don't know if I really need one. Just thought it would be a wise investment according to some of the other tlb owners.
