I am helping a friend who is restoring a 48" bar MALL CHAIN SAW. He has everything done but needs some help with the printing on the top of the gas tank. The tank is cast aluminum with a removable top panel. That panel has mixing and starting instructions painted on it. My friend wants to see if someone has a scan of the top where you can read all the words. He can then have a transfer made for his unit. Can anyone help or aim me to a web site that might help?

PS>> He also has some original documents including an ad that lists an 8' saw bar. The neat part is that there is a handle for both ends of the saw, so it is a two man operation.

Dan:

Nice collection of Bikes. When I was in Vietnam in 1970 I could have purchased a brand new Triumpt Tiger 650 single carb for $1,495.00 Problem is that I had to take Delivery in Saigon and then somehow get it to the states later. I figured if that bike ever docked in Saigon, I'd never see it so I didn't go for it.

Long live Joseph Lucas, the Prince of Darkness.

The guy with the restored item won't take a photo. He says it is already packed for shipment with no bids yet entered. I'm watching the large decal, it would work and we could create a decal using that text and a graphics program. I'm trying to get a photo of the top, less work to make the decal.

Alot of ebay sellers do that, that is, package items after they take pictures of them for the auction. Back when I was selling alot on ebay I never did that. That way if anyone needed any other pic's or info about a item I didn't have to unpack it. Hope some of the ones I found help you out.

I really got lucky and found someone with an original owner's manual for the saw in question. They are sending us a copy.

My Grandfather had a MALL with an 8 ft. blade, a monster, at least to me. I think it still exists, and was running last I heard. I remember it was a 2-stroke, and the cap said something about mixing the oil and gas.
I am going to click e-mail reply to this, and will check with my brother in the morning.
