Makita/Dolmar 6400 w/ 28" bar

LD1 and I have been discussing it in a thread we hijacked
Want to throw a 28" bar on either my Makita 6400 or my Echo CS670
Now I moved it here. All others welcome.

LD1 gave good reasons to put it on the 6400. Where's the cheapest place on line to get a 28" bar and chain?

Just buy a 28" large husky mount bar in your gage desired. I take it you want 3/8 and 050 or 058 maybe.

I usually get stuff from Husqvarna Chainsaws, Outdoor Power Equipment and Tree Care Supplies from Bailey's or ebay.

Just depends on what it is.

This Bailey's - 30" Carlton Premium Sprocket Tip Chainsaw Bar is the bars we have on the 6400's, only 24". It seems to be a pretty good quality too. And not too bad of a price. And they seem to have a wide selection in the "close-out" section. Many to choose from for under $50

Shop around though. Sometime better deals can be had on ebay, sometimes not.

Are you going to be using full comp chain and 28" on a a stock 64cc saw? Are you going to be cutting hardwoods?
You might want to think about using full skip chain IMO.

sorry for the confusion. We are NOT running 30" bars, rather 24" bars but that same model/make. The carlton premium.:thumbsup:
