I think the wineries are so prevalent is because a certain percentage of the cost is subsidized by the Govt. Most would not exist otherwise. Correct me if I am wrong.

If true I ever cease to be amazed at the boondoggles the corrupt or bought off politicians get our Gubbamint into. Wineries are everywhere, it can't be sustained.

A U-Pick type of farm? Strawberries or blueberries are the standard. Maybe add some raspberry or huckleberry or something else unique?

orchards take a long time to mature ( become profitable ) , regular pruning and spraying for pests .....and one frost at the wrong time can wipe out the whole crop ..... look nice but ...

plant the wrong choice of fruit and you have years wasted .... ( or if people's tastes change )

Have you done any soil samples to see what crops will do well in your location? If not, that may be a good place to start.

That may be a good thing if you are looking for something to get into. Check into what is being subsidized and go for that.

Ok, I'll correct you. There are no subsidies. At least not in my State.
