There's gotta be some changes in the pricing structure from Club K and soon. I'm having trouble with these MSRPs. Specifically, how the B2710 can still be priced 1500 clams more than the B7800. I've driven the 2710, the 7800 and the 2910 and I THINK I have a handle on the differences.

Just makes no sense to me. I can't think of a good reason to buy a 2710 anymore. The differences in weight, lift capacities, GHP are all very close. The "more for less" model is blatant in this case. The B2410 I might be able to make a case for, that is, it's smaller size, weight, maneuverability, etc., but that's a stretch too as most of us all want a bigger machine.

Even though this is a starting place, I would still ask my dealer the selling price. There might be more markup on one than the other and dealer might be happy to make the same amount on either sale.

This should really confuse you!
Ask the dealer for the price, after rebates or whatever the specials are this week, on an L3030?
I went in looking for a B2910 and left with a L3010 because the difference was about $1500. This was two years ago, but timing on the incentives can really make a difference. Some times there is no rhyme or reason to when they are on special and you can even double some of the specials together-as I did!

When comparing, be sure the prices are for units with the same options. For example, some models of the B7800 were priced without a mid-pto, when I looked a while back. There may be other features that contribute to the list-price difference.

Also, you have a typo in your list...the B2910 is a 30HP tractor, as I am sure you know... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The mid-pto option (with folding ROPS) is a neglible price difference I believe.

Just seems like the B2710 hydro has lost it's home in their pricing structure. We both know it has a different power plant (compared to the next notch up - B7800), SLIGHTLY lighter as a result, no quarter inching valves, ... not sure off the top of my head but fluid flows might be slightly different too, but other than that ...

I'm not saying that a 27hp machine is outta place in the B series, just that I'm trying hard to find any detail that supports why a B2710 should cost more than the B7800 .... and not doin so well. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I understand your point Buster. But these are MSRPs. Supposedly uniform across the board and the starting point for everyone whose gonna haggle price.

I believe the mid pto was something like a $350 to $400 option on the 7800. Not sure if Carver's price includes it or not.

Does the B2710 have position control? I think that is considered a step better than quarter inching control, maybe...that could add some value.

Seems to me too that the B2710 might be shut out by the B7800. Even the B2910 might. I think the actual reports of quoted prices between the 7800 and 2910 have been about $1,200 to $1,500 more for the 2910, if I remember right. IF I were shopping now, and had to choose between these two tractors for a $1,200 difference, I would still probably go with the B2910 because of the extendable lower link arms, if for no other reason.

I'd hate to think of how I might have to struggle putting my 3ph backhoe on without having the ability to extend the links to match the lower connecting points on the hoe. Sure can't move that backhoe around with a 2x4 like I can my box blade. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

In the end, the B7800 may price in at about the same as a B2710, if one would get serious quotes from a dealer. This is just a guess though. The 2710 has some small differences, like some extra sheet metal between the fenders in the back...don't really know all of them since I have the b2910.

DAP: I think your right that it's tough to justify the price difference between the B7800 and the B2710 unless you are so enamored of the additional "features" on the 2710 that that's more important than the overall comparative capabilities of the machines.

I will be taking delivery on a B7800 week after next and I studied the differences between these three models (and also the B7610) pretty carefully. You get more bells and whistles on the 2710 (position control, bi-speed turning (accelerated front wheels on sharp turns), premium seat, telscopic stabilizer on 3pt., etc.) but more engine/power and greater potential versatility on the 7800.

I figured the bells and whistles weren't worth it to me for the price difference because (1) I don't need the bi-speed turning, (2) I can buy an aftermarket premium seat for $50-150 if I don't like the standard seat and (3) I think the 1/4 inching valve is a reasonable functional substitute for position control and (4) the rest of the 3pt hitch refinements on the 2710 and 2910 are half way measure which I will replace anyway. With the $ I am saving by buying the B7800, I am putting on an aftermarket top 'n tilt system that will give me full on-the-fly hydraulic control of the toplink and lift bars to change and control implement angle. I think that this is gonna cost me less than the difference between the B7800 and the B2710 (not to speak of the 2910) and, with the one exception of position control, will give me a better overall machine.

Just my $.02. I guess it's all a Q of where you want to spend your $.

Dap - your points are hard to argue. I was one of those who bought a B2410 for exactly the reasons you mention. It has been the right choice for me, but that certainly doesn't make it the right choice for everyone.

Mad Dog - Unless they have added Bi-speed on the B2710 this year, I believe the only B series tractor with bi-speed is the 2410. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

And once you see the value in the B7800, look at the L3130. You get most of the features that are only on the deluxe smaller tractors, plus a 30 HP tractor that's almost twice as heavy and a good bit bigger. Even though I planned on a B7800 at first I couldn't see not spending another $1500 or so and getting 50% more tractor! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

By the way, the mid PTO is standard on the B7800 with the foldable ROPS and an option with the fixed ROPS.
