After noticing a stream of hydraulic fluid coming out of the 2200 this morning I turned it off and checked the fluid which still showed some on the dip stick. By the time I moved it a couple of hundred feet to the garage the stick was dry and there was fluid everywhere. I filled it back up which took 3/4 of a gallon of fluid. The leak looks like a busted hose which starts under the dash and leads to the back of the tractor. Since I can't find or get to the end of the hose it looks like time to go to the shop. Two questions: First will I damage the BX if I start it up and move it onto a trailer? And second could the loss of fluid I've already had done any damage?
Thanks

Under the dash sounds like a line to the power steering. You could go to a local hydraulic supplier and get a new hose.

As for moving it, if the hydraulic level gets low, it will stop moving, with no harm done. Just be aware that if the line is blown on the hydraulic steering, you will have NO steering.

changing out hoses on the back of the hydraulic steering unit is NO FUN!!!!!

Seriously, it's tough to get regular wrenches on those connections.

Also, if one has failed, can the others be far behind?? Best to replace them all now.

Not trying to discourage you but, like he said it's no fun. I went ahead and replaced all four hose's while I was at it. Here are a few shots of the leaky power steering hose along with the other three hose's and my Deere Kubota hybrid.:D I believe one of the others also had a slow leak.

Not to mention re-stringing the hose's through the frame under the belly and to the back wheel. I did it with no special tools / crow feet etc but, I'm sure it would have made things a some what easier.:cool:

Called the Kubota dealer today they want $300 to replace one hose. The guy suggested replacing the rest while they are working on it. Does this sound reasonable?

I replaced the front hoses three years ago, that wasn't a bad job. I had one of the rear ones blow last year, and decided that wasn't a job for me! My dealer changed both rear hoses, changed the fan belt, and replaced the radiator hoses and antifreeze for $350.00.

I definately would have the dealer replace all four. My BX is a 2000 model. The front ones went five years and the rear hoses lasted seven.

New hose from a hydraulic supply house will run you $ 25- $50

labor will be on you if you try.

Like he said the back ones are the harder ones to do. You can do it if you have some what of mechanical aptitude and have the patience . Just take your time and double check everything make sure none of the hose's are exposed or rub on any metal part of the frame. Put the sleeves and brackets back the way you find them or replace them if need be. It will be one big oily mess. Other than that it still beats paying out that money. ;)

I replaced mine when I had a bx2200. Definitely replace all the hoses when you have everything off, because you don't want to get back into it again. I had to replace the hoses for the FEL also. The b2620 looks like it has better quality hoses, only time will tell though.

Good luck on which ever way you go. I would still have my BX2200, but ended up with several more acres to take care of. Planning my retirement hobbies now.

If you have 2 hrs you can do it yourself. The hoses are about $20 each from a supply house that will make them while you wait. I took off the dash but left the mmm on. I replaced one and then about a month later a 2nd went and I replaced them all at that point. It's not hard, just takes time.
