I took the loader off and mowed an acre of grass tonight. Needed a little time to get used to but it worked pretty good. Sure does not turn as tight as my 2wd simplicity legacy but I knew I would miss that machine for mowing.
Now I need to get ready for the winter. Believe it or not, we have frost warning tonight. We did not have any summer here in southern Quebec it seems like. My tires are not loaded so I will probably have them done soon. I need 44 gallons and here they put something called agrilime. It might be comparable to Rimguard but I am not sure. What I know is that it does not freeze and it is not corrosive. They would charge between 150 and 200 depending on the time it takes. Not bad I think. Other thing I would like is a box blade.
One thing I am not sure is if I should look into having a new set of wheels for the winter and loader use and one for light duty/mowing. The front turf tires I currently have will not last many more years. All tires are original so they are 19 years old! I plan to plow my 20x100 driveway that will be paved next year. I would like to stay away from using chains so I do not damage it. anyway. Plenty of treads here to help me take a decision on that...
So far I am very satisfied with my 1st john deere although it is old in years. I hope I will like it this winter and it will work good replacing the Legacy with front mount snowblower.
