Traction Mahindra max 26 question.

I’m new to mahindra and new to hst so I have a question. When using my loader to scoop up rock or trying to pull my box blade with the rippers down my tractor in low gear 4wd will try to stall without the wheels slipping. Is that normal? My other tractor is an old 50 horse long and it will spin the tires all day if it’s too much of a load. It seems the tractor should have a bit more power to break traction. Thanks in advance.

If you're not familiar yet and/or the Long lacked it, mashing the HST pedal is the worst thing you can do for this. You'll put more torque to the wheels by easing up on that pedal a bit.

Remember that HST is a variable ratio drive, and that 'full pedal' is the highest ratio in that 'range', so the least we push the go-pedal is truly the lowest gear we'd be in. It's part of learning the nature and use of HST. Some folks struggle with the difference between automotive-style reflex moves.

What RPMs are you running at? With heavy ground work like you describe you need to be up near PTO speeds for max torque. Not the 1500-1800 that sounds OK.

Thanks for the quick information, I’ll have to check out my rpms and how far I am pushing the pedal in the next time I use it.
