So, what do you REALLY GET for the $328 ?
and what is it really worth ?
Just did some major transmission work on a JD that is 6 months out of warranty? It would have been covered by Mahindra 4th and 5th year. It was clearly not abuse. If he had the option his $328 would have saved almost $11k.
Since my shop rate is only $70 an hour and the main lines are higher in my town I get all the "just out of warranty" work. The bill is almost always between 1k and 4k but I have seen bills in the 20k range.
On a pure profitability standpoint, I wish customers wouldnt buy extended warranties. Warranty work for a dealership is a break even program at best. Out of warranty jobs are what keep the service bay open.
