Ok, lets start all over again.

Randy was right, Mahindra does intend to market an SUV in the US. Google on Mahindra Scorpio. It seems to be like a Hyundai or Kia SUV.

If it's more like an early Trooper I'll be the first in line to get one.

I've seen the Scorpio while I was in India. It's been built for a while, so while it will be new to the USA, it's not new. It is a great looking vehicle. I'd like to buy one myself. I expect it to be finished better than most would expect and to be tough and get good economy. I am guessing it may be a little simpler than some of the competition, but I'd give up a few bells and whistles so long as it is durable and reliable. I expect it will be.

And the President of the company knows how to grow market share of a unfamiliar company in the American market...

It will be interesting to see what they bring to the table!
Keep in mind though that selling cars is totally different from selling tractors. While we US customers will put up with less eye candy on something we work with, most times we won't on our ride!

I would say we can expect automobiles from India and China down the road and if you look at where the Koreans were a few years ago and where they are now you will see that these other countries can adapt and they can put out very competitive products in certain segments. Of course the Japanese have moved up market but thankfully they still are offering econoboxes. India in particular with it's huge domestic potential could be very competitive. I enjoyed my Mahindra and now have a Korean brand - like them both for different reasons - would buy both again - or maybe one of the big three - lots of choices and its good to have strong competition. I would love a Diesel Hybrid auto or truck.
