Mahindra brand oil/Hydraulic fluid what is it comparable to?

Wondering if anyone has looked into what Mahindras brand of oil and hydraulic fluid is comparable to. It is rather expensive and I was curious if that is because it is actually a very high grade of fluid is it synthetic or part synthetic. Or is it just cheap fluid that is marked up a lot. Wonder who makes it and other brands the specs compare to.

I used transmission/hydraulic oil in my 2008 Mahindra 5525 that satisfies the Deere 303 spec per my dealer's recommendation. Tractor Supply's Traveller brand satisfies that spec.

That 5525 is a 55 hp (engine) tractor with a partially synchronized transmission. That 303 spec oil might not be what you want in a small tractor with a hydrostatic trannny, which may be more choosey about the type of oil.

Good luck

The TSH fluid gets talked about a lot. Both by folks who love it and hate it! The Mahindra manual doesn't have a spec for hydraulic fluid. Instead they recommend specific products within a few brands. That makes it more difficult for folks who want to use what's recommended.
Alternatively, the motor oil they recommend is a spec and weight. They also list brands but anything that meets the spec is approved.

Don't know about you guys, but next change I'll put Royal Purple in my Max28, same oil as what I use in my Kubota L39 for cold weather performance and anti wear. Plus I change hydraulic oil every 1000 hours or so, so why not use the best?
The Max is really stiff when cold. First change of hydraulic fluid I used the premium Tractor Supply stuff.
Sneaking of which, I got to dig out the trailer for my wife. Less chance of wrecking trailer with the Max.

Not in my tractor...yet. RP is in the 2000 Dakota however in tranny, rear end and crank case. Picked up 2 tenths in the quarter. Changed over at 32,000 miles. Truck is now at 36K so it should last for a while.

Darn, had 1750 hrs in 28 years on the JD before I traded her in. Would have only had to change the tranny fluid twice had I used RP....hmm, had I used synthetic tranny fluid, wonder if I could have never changed it and just topped off with filter changes?
The Mahindra stuff I put in for the first change was a lot lighter in weight than what was in the tractor from the factory. As a matter of fact, it also was kind of "purply" in color.

Page 9-2 of the 2538 service manual lists several acceptable fluids to use in addition to the already mentioned Chevron 1000THF.

You can't use the cheapest TSC hydraulic oil, you need the stuff that's for hydraulics AND HST transmissions. The regular stuff doesn't have the right additives and can screw up your wet brakes. JD 303 is not good for wet brakes and HST systems.

As far as the Mahindra oil, it is made by Warren. They formulate oil for a lot of brands. The 2500 and 2600 series are built by TYM so in my research I also looked at what the TYM manual suggested and one was Chevron 1000THF. You can search for an oil cross reference and see what matches the spec for the Chevron oil. What I found is pretty much any high quality tractor hydraulic and transmission oil would work.

When I did my hyd change a while ago I did a lot of research to find a compatible oil that met Mahindra requirements because I didn稚 want to take a chance on a warranty claim denial. Found out they have two different fluids both made by Warren with different 途ecepies? In comparing the sheets found that the pricing was a little higher but not much for comparable fluids. I went with the ultra

if the fluid meets specs, you can use it. warranty claims cannot be denied if you use an oil to spec or better (laws in place).

I agree and understand. The issue for me was that the owners manual does not have a spec, it lists a couple of specific products. The only one I was able to find within a 100 miles was the Chevron 1000THF and it wasn't that much less expensive the the Mahindra ultra. Believe it was actually more than the straight Mahindra UTF I saw online.

I know folks obsess of fluid type. But remember where these machines are made and the market they can be used in. The hydraulic oil could be about anything and work ok. I doubt they are having discussions in the jungles of South America or on a farm in the middle of Africa.

I’m not saying some of the stuff isn’t nicer- the hst may be a little quieter or something like that. But from the lifespan of the CUT I don’t think it matters much.

Based on the number of posts in many forums about which oil/grease/hydraulic fluid is best I agree people can get a little opinionated. I do all of my own maintenance. My concern has been during the warranty period to try and follow Mahindras recommendations so that if I have an issue there won’t be any questions about the way I maintained it. So far I’ve had a few warranty claims in 300 hrs and have been very happy with the support.
