My 6500 has a transmission over-pressure problem, gear oil is leaking from the range selector boot. Looking for a vent or baffle but can't find one. I pulled the dipstick and tried to locate the using shop air (90 PSI) but just blew the air nozzle and rag from the dip stick opening with a lot of pressure. Thanks in advance for any help!

Doesnt the trans share sump with the hyd system and use hyd fluid for lube. Is the hyd level hi? Dont know how a pressurized situation would occur unless there is a plugged breather. On my 7520 the breathers are on top of the axle case. Maybe just a bad seal on the range selector ... or overfill.

Not sure...I have 2 dip sticks. 1 is on the right rear of the seat (hyd sump good level) and the other is down by the PTO shaft/speed selector on the right (level aprox 1/4 from full). It uses the same type hyd fluid for both hyd and trans. I have researched both my manuals without any luck (not sure i trust them). I'm still looking for any breathers on the rear axle housing/trans. I'll keep ya in the loop, thanks!

SPYDERLK, Thanks for your post. I got in touch with the local dealer and they looked in their exploded breakdown for parts and located the rear axle/trans breather. It's located directly below the left rear corner of the seat on a block bolted to the housing above the left axle tube hidden by the remote hyd lines. I removed it and cleaned it with carb cleaner an got it working. It's a fitting with a small bolt, lock washer, thin metal cover (hat) and screen bolted the fitting. It has 2 holes in the bottom another screen inside, and 2 more holes in the top. After I cleaned I noticed after assembly it didn't work. I was going to drill more holes but came up with a better fix, added a flat washer between the hat and lock washer and it works great. Thanks again for the assistance!

Yeah, that breathers gotta work. Fluid levels change as hyd accessories are used. It needs to breathe. Glad for your success.
