Mahindra 5500 won't start

Local JD dealer has a Mahindra 5500 that they took on trade. According the dealer it doesn't run and didn't when they took it in. They haven't put any time into getting it running so they can't tell me what's wrong with it, but are selling it as is for $2500. It has 1700 hrs and a loader, so I figure it should be with that much even if it takes some money to get it running again. If I go and look at it can anyone suggest some things to check? Don't know yet whether it turns over or not.

I would look for a hole in the block and oil in water or water in oil. Price a new engine and see if that's still what you what being worst case scenario

If you turn the key and nothing happens but the light comes on strong you may have found gold.... if you get on it and turn the key and it goes bang (starter slams) and nothing happens... walk away
