So Art, what if the guy had wanted a manual trans. What make has the better trans? Is the 12x8 GST of the Kubota, light years ahead of the 12x12 power shuttle of the Mahindra? Have you even looked closely at a 35 series Mahindra? I don't think that some of your comparisons even pertain to the 2 models that this guy is looking at. Just quickly looking weight and hydraulic GPM is on Mahindra's advantage. Draft control is std on the 4035 where as it is an option on the L3940. HST goes to Kubota, manual gear shift goes to Mahindra. The list goes on and on, but one tractor is in no way light years ahead of the other.
I think that a lot of times you get carried away with your one sided comparisons.
Just my opinion.
Brian, sometimes I don't go into things as deep as I could, most people couldn't use a good draft control much less then when they take twenty percent to adjust a draft control or not being able to adjust in less then a seconds time making it a near useless option. I was just at the New York farm show and was looking at the many tractor makes as I walked the show. There are many things that I look at, some that don't seem to bother others and some that will haunt them later. You talk of the high output hydraulics and it seems to be their high point. Looking at the listings on a salvage sight there was just one of those tractors listed where the loader was strong enough to lift something that it shouldn't have! Bent the loader frames as well as did chassis damage to the tractor, enough for it to be considered salvage! Knowing the repairs that we have made on those tractors in our area that are repairs caused by design weaknesses are where I make my calls. My dairy farms need tractors for thousands of hours not just a couple of hundred before they swap so I look for longevity in products that we sell. Imitation is the best form of flattery, but did they really do a good job copying it?
