Tractor
Mahindra 2810 / 28hp
Very similar look, similar spec sheets, and priced identical. The Century is slightly heavier with a little more 3 pt lift capacity but the Mahindra has independant PTO. Mahindra may be a little more recogonized in Okla. with a longer history but there also seems to be more Century dealers moving in lately. Finally, the Century FE loader looks much stronger.

And if I go with Century, how about the Branson. I haven't priced the Branson yet but they are both manufactored by Kukje. They appear to be the exact same tractor, just that one is distributed by American Jawa and one distributed by Dragon Tractor.

The tractor will be used for mowing 5 acres (3 acres brush hog & 2 acres finish mowing), maintaining 800 ft of gravel road and misc dirt work.

My head is starting to hurt from all this so I'm close to just drawing straws...any last suggestions? Anyone had any experience with any of these tractors? I'm also a little concerned that all 3 brands are sold by rather small dealers.

What is going to be your main use for the tractor...?

For lots of ground engaging work(plowing, rear blading, ditching, etc.) the Century's heavier bulk is a big plus...

For mostly mowing/brush cutting type, the Mahindra's independent PTO is a big plus over a "live" PTO-double clutch method...

Century's importer American-Jawa has been around for quite a while and looks to be a stable company for parts availability based on their past history...

Both the Daedong and the Kukje powerplants are relatively similar as far as the "unknown" reliability factor goes...

I personally like the Mahindra frame built by TYM...

Now to add a monkey-wrench to the situation... have you considered the Millennium T290 by TYM with the Kubota powerplant with all the great features of the above with a big plus +++ of Kubota under the hood.../w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

(pricing is comparable among the three...)

Now my head will surely explode!

But speaking of independant PTO on Mahindra....my daddy always warned me about those new gadgets like automatic transmissions and power windows, "Sure gonna cost alot when they go out." Has the push button PTO been around long enough to prove itself reliable?

You left off computerized fuel injection replacing carburetors... Yep... your Daddy was absolutely right back in the 40's, 50's, and 60's... fast forward to 2002 with fuel injection... Uh... by the way... what is a carburetor?
