Mahindra 2655 alternator

Hi, thanks for letting me join the group.

My 2655 is needing the alternator changed now for the third time in 3 years. Twice it has gone back to the dealer for repair however that particular dealer does not sell or honor the warranty of Mahindra products any longer which leaves the next closest dealership over 2 hours away. Since I don't have a trailer to haul it there, I was thinking of changing it out myself.

The alternator from Mahindra is $638. Has anyone found a like kind replacement that will work? I know that it is a 90 amp alternator but unable to cross reference a replacement by either the Mahindra part number or the Lucas TVS part number.

Do you have automotive electrical shops around you who rebuild such things? Many times it is only a diode set gone bad, they could easily fix it.
Mahindra's price is insane.

I have had good luck with the DB alternators. I just replaced one on a E350 Mahindra for about $70. Works like a charm. Have used them before on my truck and a car. No problems. I was going to tell you to look on Ebay or Amazon, but that 90amp alternator is simply not out there for the 2655. I would get on the phone with DB electrical and tell them what you have. They may have a crossover for you. If not I would do what Shovelmike has recommended. Take the old one in to an alternator shop. They will fix it even if it has to be rewired, and it should be a lot less than $600
