Mahindra 2555 starting leaking oil before contract could be signed

Recently agreed to purchase a new Mahindra 2555 Hst cab and the tractor was delivered before the finance contract was ready to be signed. Noticed oil under the tractor and then discovered that oil was leaking at the front of the axle housing where it bolts to the transmission case. It was a small amount but it seems to leak even when tractor is not in use. Anybody heard of this or have any ideas about cause?

I wouldn't worry to much about that... just be sure they fix it before it leaves.. could be just leaking down from a line or someone spilt while filling up the front axle

Thanks, but it is definitely leaking between the axle housing and where it bolts to the transmission. The leak is slow but leaks along a rather long area with tractor sitting. I think there may be a problem with the mating surfaces of either the axle housing or the trans. Not sure it can be sealed without major repairs?

The dealer has it now and they are very good, but I would still like to understand what is causing the leak. I have owned several tractors of every color and I have never seen or heard of anything like this.

Perhaps someone forgot a gasket, forgot to tighten a nut, or perhaps there is a crack in a part that qc missed. Not to belittle your problem but stuff happens. Don't worry about it, you bought a good tractor with a good brand reputation.

Being a devil's advocate type of person, hopefully if there is something more fundamental to be concerned about, TBN members chime in, But I think, as others have said, stuff can happen during assembly. Mahindra is one of the known good brands, so I doubt you have a significant issue. Keep us posted, please.

Dealer has confirmed that it was an issue with sealing of axle housing to the trans as I suspected. They are fixing it now. I would post dealer supplied pics if I knew how.

My dealer was great and got the tractor fixed "PDQ". The sealant used to mate the axle housing to trans failed for unknown reason and it took a huge effort to fix. I had two Mahindra dealers to chose from when I purchased tractor, one was very small and the other was very big. I chose the big one because of their service / parts department and it looks like my choice paid off right off the bat. Thanks to all for the comments!
