Buying Advice Mahindra 2555 or Kioti NX4510?

   / Mahindra 2555 or Kioti NX4510? #11
I was at a store once and a guy came in and asked which brand the sales guy recommended over all the ones they had on display. He told him that this particular brand was the best one. The guy said he appreciated that and he was really the representative of that brand, and for his recommending that brand, he was going to give him $200. This was at a sporting goods store and he was talking about snow skis, but ever since then, I've always had my doubts when a sales guy recommends one brand over another when they sell both. While he might be telling the truth, I doubt everything I'm being told until I can confirm it one way or another. I play stupid and ask questions that I know the answer to in order to catch them in a lie. If they pass that test, I feel better about their answers to things I don't know.

From everything I'm seeing, Mahindra is the company on the rise with a quality product. Kioti is just kind of out there, but not really a major player. If the cost is similar, Mahindra would be my top choice.

I'm also casually looking at different brands for a cab tractor and Mahindra is at the top of my list over all the other brands except LS. I'm not sure which is the better deal, but it might come down to paint color. I just hate that shade of blue on the LS tractors, but everything I've read about them sure sounds like a heck of a tractor for a fair price.

It depends on whether it's a "Mahindra" made by Mahindra, TYM or Mitsubishi. I won't support companies from India if I can avoid it, and I have even less faith when companies outsource their tractors to multiple companies. If it's a Mahindra they build themselves, it's less of a concern, but the handful I've seen lately seem crude compared with many other brands. On the plus side, they tend to be heavy, and have powerful loaders.

...perhaps I should know this, but how do you know which is which?

as far as I know, through my reading, the only Mahindras that are made in India are the one destined to remain in Asia and maybe Europe. I think that all exported tractors to USA are made by Mitubishi or Tym.

GMANBART,

why do you have to add:

"I won't support companies from India if I can avoid it," in virtually every post you make ?

It's like me posting "I don't like asparagus" in every post. It's irrelevant and means nothing to anyone else unless you tell people why. Even then, we don't really need to hear it every time you post.

I respect your opinions and your contributions. You are a valuable poster, but this gets old.

It's not in "virtually every post" so don't go making wild exaggerations about what I post. I've probably stated that no more than a handful of times. Edit: I did a quick search and it appears only 3-4 times has that ever come up.

I won't support companies in India for the same reasons I won't support companies in China or Russia. You'll have to guess why that might be, but it's not like I dislike the people in any of those countries.

Unfortunately, lots of things "get old" on forums. I think it gets old that some folks never seem to post anything other than "Welcome from X" but I don't own the forum.

Sorry if I exaggerated a little. I ran into it twice in 10 minutes of reading before I posted that, in fact I thought it was twice in one thread, that's why I posted.

I'm sure it's more than 3-4 times total as whenever I see a post by you, I wonder if I'll see the comment. Maybe not. It would provide more info for the person who is asking about Mahindras if there were some context to the statement that a potential customer could wrap his head around. It just leaves a big ? in their mind. Being helpful is what this site is about.

You're free to post whatever you like, I give you my permission. :) And Welcome From Massachusetts!

btw:

I don't like asparagus, really.

It's really not.

I searched and found it in three threads, with two references in one thread because someone asked about it. In fact there are only 20 threads I've ever posted in that even contain the word "India" and most of them it was someone else using the word.

I'm a patriot, and try to support only those companies in countries that are true friends....and I like asparagus :D

I'm not concerned about people using subcontractors to build parts. None of us would have whole cars if we held to that standard, or pencils for that matter.

Mahindra uses 4 separate suppliers for their tractors.

The eMax tractors are Daedong machines.
The Max, 1500 series, 16 series, are made by Mitsubishi.
The 2500 series, 10 series and mForce machines are made by TYM.
The 3500 series, 35 series, 4500 series, 5500 series, 30 series, 60 series, mPower machines are made by Mahindra.

To the best of my knowledge this is how it currently is with the tractors that are on the website. Mahindra's utility size tractors have for the most part always been built by Mahindra. Until the 60 series tractors, all cab tractors were built by TYM. Mitsubishi has made the compact tractors for sometime now. The eMax is the first Daedong that I know about.

I hope that this clarifies the Manufacturers for those that are concerned. ;)

That same people who made Bobcat tractors, build John Deere's 6 series tractors for the Asian market, supply the industry with tractor bits and transmission components and do business as Kioti, as well as the same people making Massey's CUTs all supply Mahindra. The horror!

What is the problem with India?

Full disclosure: I own common stock in India's largest bank. India is one of the few countries with upturning population demographics over the next 20 years.
