SIR,
it sounds like you are describing a post, and beam
type building, and these are worth saving! there are
companies that do restoration work on these buildings.
i guess it would depend on how bad it really is.
good luck with all your projects.

Back in the 1960's after a hurricane we sold random width barn siding for $1.00 per running foot. Folks were buying to to hang in their dens.

Don't just tear it down before you try to sell it. I would advertise it on eBay or some place like that. Now when you do sell it make sure the person who buys it gives you and iron-clad contract and provide you with insurance coverage for all liablity.

Thanks for the info and advise on my barn. I will look into seeing if someone is interested in dismantling and buying the barn. I really wish I had the money, time and resources to save it. There is just too much to do and I need to go in a different direction. You have given me some great ideas and I'll let you know what happens...

By the by... I really love my tractor. So far so good! It mows great and we have found all kinds of uses for the front loader. I am looking into a lawn aerator and dethatcher to take care of our lawn. Backhoe should be in the near future too...

No major issues to report other than the pedestal turn signal lights are pretty cheap and flimsy. I have broken both of them around brush or trees when mowing... Trying to find some heavy duty replacements, preferably with meatl grills to protect them. Any recommendations?

I took my flashers off to protect them. I don't have a need to be on the road.

My neighbor sold his old barn for about $10,000, someone came in just for the beams and siding, and it was a sad looking barn.

Thanks everyone for the advise on the barn... I have a few interested parties coming to look at it next week! We'll see what happens... Maybe if I make enough I can buy another Mahindra! :D

I ordered some replacement flashers from a person on eBay. They look a lot tougher than the cheap plastic ones that originally came with my tractor. I should have them next week as well and will let everyone know how they look and fit. In the meantime, here is a link to them on eBay and a picture if you are interested:

Hi Everyone!

I haven't posted in a while... Had a lot on my plate and not a lot of time for fun. I have had my 2516HST for 6 months now and I am still really happy with it. No issues at all mechanically and it runs great.

I do wish I would have gotten a tractor with a little more HP though.... I was trying to balance using it at my home and on the farm. Sometimes the grass gets a little too high and the mower really bogs down the tractor. I think the 5 foot mower is right on the edge of what this tractor can handle.

I also bought the new turn signal / flashers I posted a while back. They are great and extremely heavy duty. I just need to figure out where to buy replacement lenses if they ever do crack. They are extremely durable and it hasn't happened yet.

For those of you worried about the barn on the farm, it has gained a new life. I ended up renting the farm house and barn to a family that raises horses. They cleaned it up really good, built stalls and repaired a lot of the old rotted wood. I did have several interested parties who wanted to disassemble it and buy the wood. No huge offers, but I kept their names and numbers for when the time to take it down eventually comes.

Best wishes to all!

Thanks for the follow up on your Mahindra. I am looking hard at this brand over Kubota for our 10 acre place-three 2 acre pastures, long gravel driveway connected to 1/2 mile gravel road that is not maintained by the county. I spend a lot of time wondering about power and just how much you really need at the PTO. Seems to me its like building a pole barn, don't go small!

What attachemts off the PTO do you plan to run? Also, are you looking at the hydro or gear?

I would like to run a 5 foot brush hog, post hole digger, rear blade. I would need to move snow and a rear blade looks like the most cost effective setup. The HST would also be my choice.

I did stop by a TYM dealer today after leaving Missoula, MT and the T273HST tractor he had looked really good. It came with a backhoe attached too. He was asking $18k for the tractor/loader/backhoe.

I have a 2615 gear and I have no reason to believe I would ever need a HST. I don't really find myself shifing a lot of gears for some reason so in my case I don't think the extra 1000.00 is worth spending. With the 'live' PTO I have mowed and mowed with the brush hog. At least 10 acres twice with 4 foot grass/weeds. I have moved no less then 100 yards of material building my cabin (road mix, top soil, etc). I have moved building materials and left over trash even tho the loader would not pickup a bunk of Trex (had to break it up into 3 loads). I have maintained the 600 feet of private road. I have a 5' Allied snow blower hooked up to the back waiting for the weather to hit since I will maintain my own road. I could not justify a backhoe since it would probably just be used for landscaping at this point. I left the digging up to the 'professionals'.

I have had 0 problems with the tractor and thats a good thing since there are no Mahindra dealers 'close'. No regrets on the tractor and I'm sure it's going to be solid as a rock for years to come.

When my friends visit I sit back on the deck and watch them do work on the tractor....lol...can't get them off of it....ha
