I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem on my girlfriend's tractor.
It's a Mahindra 2015 with the 3cyl diesel with a Bush Hog mower. It has sat all winter.
About two weeks ago, we jumped it, and mowed for 4+ hours without any issues. A day or two later, topped off with fresh diesel, I began mowing again, and after about 20-30min, it began to slowly lose power. I disengaged the PTO, but RPM didn't come back up. Any additional load (acceleration, raising the mower) caused RPM to drop further until it died.
After that, it would turn over, and even start but only run for about 10sec. We let it sit for a few hours, and it ran long enough to get back to the garage.
Since then, we've changed the fuel filter, added an anti-algae additive. I ran it with the fuel cap off, covered by a rag to make sure the fuel tank is venting. Oil and coolant are at appropriate levels, and the temp gauge appears to be working properly, and is right in the green when the issue occurs. Same thing keeps happening. It runs great for 25 min (I timed it yesterday) then slowly dies over about 90sec. After it died I turned it off and back to the on position, and the fuel pump was still audible.
I have some mechanical ability, but I'm not very experienced with tractors or diesels, so I'm just trying to give as much information as I can in hopes that someone can give me an idea I haven't thought of.
Thanks in advance!
