I have removed the fuel tank filter from bottom of tank. I have replaced the filter from bottom of fuel primer. I have let out the fuel from the fuel tank, ran more fuel in/out of the fuel tank for a cleaning method. Added more new fuel in the fuel tank. restarted the tractor back up, again it runs 10>>12 min and cuts off again. Can someone please tell me what blocking/keeping fuel from getting to the engine. I notice my primer button is very hard to pull up/push down to prime the fuel, plus when the tractor is running the short time. Pressing down on the fuel paddle plus pulling down on the RPM arm does nothing. Where do I look for my tractor cutting off issues. Could there be something wrong with the tractor fuel pump? How can I test the fuel pump to see if it not the problem.???..

Let's begin at the beginning. The hand primer pump has a glass bowl under it? That says you have a tier 1 tractor, and the injection pump is an inline model. Yes/no?

You have a fuel problem? You've been fighting what you think is probably a fuel supply issue? Been through the tank and outlet screen/fittings, all that right? All the usual stuff and nothing is working. If I were doing this, the next thing I would do is remove the fuel supply line from the tank to the filter base. (provided it hasn't been done already) Cut through the crimp sleeves, pull them off and remove the old braided fuel hose that's on there. Look closely at the banjo fitting that was on the filter base. Is there anything stuck in there that can reduce fuel flow? Also the bajo bolt itself. It has holes that can also collect fragments of whatever comes out of the tank and makes it down the line. Replace that hose with good quality rubber fuel hose and standard hose clamps. Any fuel related problems on a Mahindra tractor, that's the first thing I do. After that, any serious troubleshooting can begin.

There may be a screen in the fuel tank or right before the fuel pump.

Old 5500 did that when fuel got low while mowing or plowing. Seemed the screen at the fuel pump would get gummed up with the gunk sloshing around in an almost empty tank.

Be sure the vent in your fuel filler cap is clear. If clogged it can create a partial vacuum in the tank preventing fuel flow. This is easy to check by running awhile with the cap off.

I have removed the fuel line from the bottom of the tank, hit it on something to knock out any trash/gum, and blew into it. On my tractor that hose connects to the fuel pump side primer. I read about this fuel pump FUEL SHJUTOFF SOLENOID located on the fuel pump may have gone bad. I cannot see or locate a fuel shut off solenoid on my Mahindra 4500 2002 2wd fuel pump. Do the MAHINDRA 4500 2002 2wd have a Fuel shut off solenoid mounted on the fuel pump, if it does where is it located??????

Not all tractors were created equal. Simple question. Does your tractor turn off and on with the key switch or do you shut it off with a lever, rod, or cable? Maybe you can't find a shutoff solenoid because it doesn't have one.

MY MAHINDRA 4500 2002 2wd tractor does not cut off until I pull out the rod-cable. The post I read states the MAHINDRS has a fuel-shut-off solenoid, and it located on the fuel/injector pump. I cannot find a fuel-shut-off solenoid on the 4500 2002 2wd fuel-injector pump based on the picture of a fuel shut-off solenoid I see on the internet. Maybe this model tractor was not made with a fuel shut-off solenoid on the fuel\injector pump, I will take off the fuel tank cap, and run the tractor, to see will the tractor stay running.

Later models do have electric shutoff, but they have a Bosch VE (more emissions friendly) pump than the earlier tractors. If you have one with the cable shut off you're much better off.

That said, no one can tell you what's stopping your fuel flow. (though some will try) It's matter of trial and error on your part. You need to isolate one portion of the fuel supply at a time until you find it. I start with the basics, as you obviously have done. Then start removing lines and fittings as needed to rig up a jug of CLEAN fuel and insert that into the chain eliminating any portions I feel could be causing problems. If I can get the engine to run for whatever period of time needed to prove the pump itself is okay as long as it is supplied, then decide what parts I bypassed may be an issue.

My fuel primer on top of the fuel pump assembly hard to pull up and push down to prime the tractor. Could the primer be defected? How to test for a defected primer: I was not able to unscrew the primer off the fuel pump assembly while the fuel pump assembly was mounted on the tractor. I have now removed the whole fuel pump assembly off the tractor. The bolt at the bottom of the primer is hard to get a too tick ranch to unscrew the bolt.

Can you post some photos of the system you have? How to test the primer pump? If I were doing that, I would not remove it from the injection pump. I would simply remove the pressure side line from wherever it goes (probably the filter base inlet) and work the hand pump. Does it pump any fuel? If not, check the supply side hose. Is there any fuel for it to pump? If the hand primer doesn't work, will it pump fuel cranking the engine? It's all pretty basic. Maybe you need to rig up a supply of clean fuel and run a hose from a jug straight into the primer pump. Taking the pump off without knowing why isn't going be of much help.
